The local Stallions of Burkina Faso have pitched camp in Morocco to continue preparations ahead of their 2018 CHAN qualifying games against the Black Stars B of Ghana.
The Burkina CHAN team has been in the North African country for the past week where coach Drissa Traore has been taking his team though various tactical sessions and physical drills to get his boys in excellent shape for the first leg of the Ghana duel in Ouagadougou on August 11th.
The team landed in Morocco on July 23 after also playing in an invitational tournament in Thailand.
Tension in Burkina Faso
Meanwhile a dispute between one club Kozaf and the Burkina Football Federation (BFF ) with the local 2016/17 Burkina soccer championship set to be completed on Sunday threatens to mar the trouble-free end of the competition this year. The aggrieved club requested the BFF to allow them to recall its players currently with the national team in Morocco on the training tour but the BFF did not grant the request according to Burkinabe journalists Boukari Oedraogo and Jacques Theodore.
Relegation threatened Kozaf could be dumped into the second division if they lose at home to RC Kadiogo – who in contrast – need to win to clinch the title even if their closest title rivals Etoile Filante win at home against another side caught up in the relegation mire – US Comoe.
Its the position of Kozaf football club that it has not been treated fairly by the BFF when the two big teams battling for the title – RC Kadigo first on 56 points and Etoile Filante on 54 points at the second position – were permitted to recall their players from the national team’s training camp in Morocco purposely to play in Sunday’s crucial Week 30 matches.
The Burkina team is expected to enter the country by next week where preparations for this year’s WAFU Cup will continue.
Meanwhile Kwesi Appiah and his technical support team have equally been busy with the Black Stars B playing top friendlies against Togo, The Gambia and Benin.
