Ghana will face Sierra Leone or Gambia in the first round of the CAF qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Gambia beat Sierra Leone 0-3 away in the first leg of their preliminary qualifier with the second leg slated for this Saturday October 27.
The first leg will be played on the weekend of 1-3 December, 2017 with the return encounter set for the weekend of 15-17 December. The winner of the tie will face Djibouti in the last round of qualifiers for a place in Uruguay next year.
The Black Maidens will be hoping to make a 6th successive appearance at the biennial competition. They have been present at every FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup since the competition was introduced in 2008.
Ghana had a bye in the preliminary round along with Tunisia, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Cameroon.
Three countries will represent Africa at the 16-team competition.
