The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars, Mr. Albert Commey has ruled himself out of the race for the Managing Director’s position at Accra Hearts of Oak.
The Accra based club are currently on the hunt for a new Manging Director to replace Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei who intends to resign following his nomination by Ghana’s President Nana Akuffo-Addo to serve as a deputy Sports Minister.
Several top football administrators including Mr. Commey have been linked with the Phobian MD job but the Aduana Stars CEO says he is happy with his current position.
“The truth of the matter is I’m happy with my current position in Aduana, I have a very good relationship with everybody in the club. We have set a target which we must meet at the end of the season, so I wouldn’t let anything distract me,” Albert Commey told Happy FM in Accra.
“I have seen all the names earmarked for the position and I believe they are competent people but I think if my name has come up as one of the candidates’ job, I will treat it as a commendation because like I said, I’m happy with Aduana”, he added.
Commey is a known Hearts of Oak supporter and has served the club previously as a spokesperson.
However, he was adamant that his time with the club is over and will support any person the club deem fit to occupy that position.
“My time with the Hearts is over and it’s time for somebody else to take up the mantle but whatever decision they’ll take, as a staunch Hearts fan I’ll support it with all my heart,” Albert Commey concluded.
