Bechem United striker Amed Simba Toure says he will not decide against signing for Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the fourth time should they show interest in him, the in-form striker has said on Thursday.
The former Kotoko striker – voted best premier league player in 2011 – is currently joint-leading top goalscorer in the Ghana league on 12 goals in 18 games alongside Hearts of Oak’s Thomas Abbey but it is the overall big performances of the Burkina Faso international this season that has made him one of the league’s big hitters.
“I am currently a Bechem United player but if any club be it Asante Kotoko or Hearts of Oak show interest in signing me and they talk to my club and agreement is reached I will definitely move. Why not? I am a professional football and if any club at all need my services I will consider it but at the moment I’m in Bechem” Amed Toure said on Metro FM when he appeared on the Matured and Academic Sports on Thursday morning.
Toure appeared on the Metro FM Sports show alongside his Bechem United CEO Mr. Nana Kwesi Darlyn as the duo are spending some good time in Kumasi away from football due to the league break.
Toure left Asante Kotoko before the start of the 2016 season and said a fourth stint at Kotoko was very unlikely but now the intelligent attacker has stated he made that declaration as a result of how bitter he was when he was told he was not needed at the club anymore.
“Its true that when I was told that I was not part of the plans of the new coach (David Duncan) I said I won’t return to the club again but the circumstances at the time forced me to say that but now things have changed and my doors are open to every club including Asante Kotoko or Hearts of Oak.” the former Lokeren striker added.
“People tag me as controversial but they don’t know what really goes on in a club. You have to know that when I returned to Asante Kotoko I even started playing having not received anything (fee) yet. But I played but the fans don’t know. When you ask the club officials about salary delays then you are seen as disrespectful and so its not that Toure is controversial but always demand what’s due me. ” the clever Toure stressed.
Powerful prophet Kofi Amponsah of House of Ezra fame – who never hides his affection and love for Kotoko- announced his willingness to purchase the striker for the club – of course such transfer will depend on many factors.
Currently the leading topscorer of Asante Kotoko in the Ghana league – Yakubu Mohammed – has scored 5 goals and is followed by Sadick Adams on 3 goals in 5 games who just joined the team in the second round. These numbers are in sharply and overwhelmingly bettered by Amed Toure’s 12 goals in 18 games for Bechem United this term.
Its conceivable that Asante Kotoko will be on the market in search of new striker (s) for next season and Bechem icon Amed Toure will be one the first targets on Kotoko’s list.
