Former Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique, is not desirous of taking over from Antonio Conte at Chelsea. Enrique has been rumoured to be the Blues’ top candidate, to replace under-fire Antonio Conte. Enrique is however not interested in cutting short his year-long break from football for any position and Chelsea would likely have to hire a caretaker manager to see out the rest of the season, should they decide to fire Conte before the summer. The Blues have also been linked with Juventus’s Massimiliano Allegri and Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri. Latest reports, however, say Roman Abramovich is willing to persist with Conte…

Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal to sign Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi on loan for the rest of the season, subject to a medical. The deal could hasten Arsenal’s signing of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who Dortmund have said they will only sell if a replacement is found. Chelsea could sign Olivier Giroud from the Gunners as a replacement for Batshuayi to complete a three-way deal. Belgium international Batshuayi has made 32 league appearances for Chelsea since joining the club from Marseille in July 2016, scoring seven goals.  Blues manager Antonio Conte said earlier in the week that the 23-year-old was…

Manchester City’s hopes of an unbeaten Premier League season came crashing down in style on Sunday as Liverpool beat Pep Guardiola’s title favourites 4-3 at Anfield. Pep Guardiola’s side had no answer to a second-half onslaught from Liverpool, who pressed the League leaders and made them pay with three goals in nine minutes. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring with a fine 25-yard effort after nine minutes, though Leroy Sane beat Loris Karius at his near post all too easily to send the sides in level at the interval. City came out firing in the second half, but it was Jurgen…

Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool are showing Sadio Mane and Mo Salah “respect” by letting them fly to Ghana for an awards ceremony this week. The pair will be present at the CAF Awards on Thursday – the night before the Merseyside derby clash with Everton in the FA Cup third round. And after his side’s dramatic 2-1 win at Burnley, Klopp confirmed that both players would be given permission to make the 9,000-mile round trip this week. Klopp…

The Football Association have launched an investigation into the ugly tunnel row that marred the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Sunday during which Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta suffered a cut head and milk and water was thrown towards Jose Mourinho. A huge melee broke out after Manchester United reacted with displeasure to what they felt were excessive celebrations from City’s players and staff after their 2-1 win moved them 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. “The FA have sought observations from both clubs in relation to an incident which occurred following yesterday’s game,” the FA said.…

Brighton stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five games as they and visitors Stoke drew a lively encounter at the Amex. Jose Izquierdo secured a point for the Seagulls with a scrappy second-half goal that kept them ninth in the table. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had poked Stoke into the lead from a wonderful Xherdan Shaqiri pass in the first half. Pascal Gross fired through Lee Grant’s legs to level, but Kurt Zouma headed Stoke back in front 120 seconds later. Those two goals came at the end of a frantic first half during which Brighton forward Glenn…

Manchester City produced their finest display of the season so far to win 1-0 at champions Chelsea, a result which means they stay top of the Premier League table after seven matches. Kevin De Bruyne scored the winner, firing a brilliant left-footed strike past Thibaut Courtois with just over 20 minutes remaining, and City have now gone 15 Premier League matches unbeaten. Chelsea had the first real chance of the game when Alvaro Morata headed over the bar in a good position – but City quickly became the dominant force, with their high-pressing game causing Chelsea all sorts of problems.…

It was completely wrong. “I have already said sorry to my family, my manager and chairman and everyone at…

Liverpool have lost their appeal over the length of Sadio Mane’s three-match ban after he was sent off in Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at Manchester City. Mane was dismissed in the 37th minute after catching City goalkeeper Ederson in the face with a high foot. He will now miss Premier League matches against Burnley and Leicester, as well as a trip to the latter in the EFL Cup. The excessive punishment claim was rejected following an independent regulatory commission hearing. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said on Saturday that neither he nor City counterpart Pep Guardiola thought Mane should have been sent off. Match of…
