Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane insists the knee injury he picked up in their 1-0 Europa League defeat to Gent on Thursday is not serious. The England international started in Belgium on Thursday night and managed to complete the full 90 minutes, although he did suffer the knock late on in the match. Kane was reportedly seen walking out of Ghelamco Arena without any trouble, but there were suggestions he would be a doubt for the weekend’s FA Cup clash with Championship side Fulham. However, speaking after the game Kane reiterated that he was fine ahead of Sunday, although manager Mauricio…

Jordan Ayew is pledging to deliver for the fans as he finds his feet at Swansea City. Signed from Aston Villa at the end of January, Ayew is still getting used to his new surroundings having arrived in Wales just a week ago as a result of the Africa Cup of Nations. But the Ghana star has already heard his name being sung at the Liberty Stadium. Ayew made his Swans debut in last Sunday’s 2-0 win over Leicester City, coming off the bench for the final 18 minutes. And within seconds of Ayew’s arrival on the pitch, the Jack…

The Blues currently sit top of the table, nine points ahead of the Gunners who they host at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 1HD, and 15 points clear of sixth-placed United. Ahead of the clash, Hazard sat down with one of his international coaches and former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, who quizzed the Belgian on who could rival…

Swansea City manager Paul Clement has confirmed the Premier League side has made a cash plus player for offer for Aston Villa’s Ghanaian striker, Jordan Ayew.  The Welsh club are poised to complete a deal which will see them pay Villa £5million for the £9million-rated Ghana international, with 27-year-old Taylor also included as part of the transfer. Ayew, who has scored ten goals since joining Villa from Lorient in the summer of 2015, is one of several players boss Steve Bruce was prepared to offload during the January window. Wales international Taylor will meanwhile provide competition for Jordan Amavi in…

Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho has signed a new five-year contract worth about £150,000 a week, making him the highest-paid player at the club. The 24-year-old Brazil international joined the Reds from Inter Milan for £8.5m in January 2013, and his new deal will take him through to 2022. Coutinho has scored 34 goals in 163 appearances for Liverpool. “It is a club that I am very grateful to and this shows my happiness here,” he told the club’s website. There is no release clause in Coutinho’s new contract, the terms of which come into effect from 1 July. Coutinho, who…

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic says forward Dimitri Payet no longer wants to play for the club – but says they will not sell him. The 29-year-old France international has regularly been linked with a move away from West Ham. “We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but Payet does not want to play for us,” Bilic said. “We are not going to sell him.” Payet joined West Ham from Marseille for £10.7m in June 2015. He excelled in his first season with the club, scoring 12 goals and earning a nomination for the PFA…

Manchester United have triggered the one-year option on Marouane Fellaini’s £120 000-a-week contract at Old Trafford, tying the Belgian to the club until the summer of 2018. The news emerged yesterday in the wake of Fellaini’s late goal and emotional celebration as United beat Hull 2-0 in the semi-final of the EFL Cup on Tuesday. Although it was widely believed that Fellaini had signed a five-year contract when he moved from Everton for £27.5million in 2013, United had an option to activate the final 12 months of the deal. The club exercised that right last month at a time when…

Wayne Rooney has moved level with Sir Bobby Charlton as Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorer. The 31-year-old’s FA Cup strike against Reading took him to 249 in 543 games, reaching the landmark 215 matches and four seasons quicker than Charlton. The record had stood since 1973 but Rooney now seems certain to beat it. In 2015, Rooney surpassed World Cup winner Charlton’s England scoring record of 49 goals and has since taken his tally to 53. The United landmark comes during a season in which the England captain has been left out of the starting line-up for both club and…

Aston Villa could lose a second striker this month as Swansea are plotting a move to sign Ghana striker Jordan Ayew, according to a report. The Mirror claim that the Welsh side will test Villa’s resolve for keeping hold of the 25-year-old, with the Midlands giants also set to sell Rudy Gestede to Middlesbrough after accepting a £6million offer. It is reported that Ghana international Ayew has failed to impress manager Steve Bruce, and that could see the former Lorient forward leave just 18 months after joining Villa. With the Africa Cup of Nations also approaching, Villa could be tempted to…
