President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday announced the appointment of Pius Enam Hadzide to the Youth and Sports Ministry as a Deputy Minister designate. He will deputize substantive Isaac Asiamah once he gets the approval of Parliament. Pius Enam Hadzide’s appointment settles doubts surrounding the position following earlier reports that MP for La Dade Kotopon, Vincent Odotei was in pole position to land the job. The former Deputy Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party contested who is not well known within the sporting industry contested the Ketu North Parliamentary seat during the 2016 elections but lost.

Majority leader in parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has condemned the state’s petroleum firm GNPC over their use of a 30% of the national kitty on sponsorship to the football sector. The legislator has questioned GNPC’s decision to pump a huge sum of its investments into sponsoring the Black Stars and paying huge sums to its coaches at a press briefing on Tuesday. FIFA president Giani Infantino has revealed that Africa will get more than seven slots in the expanded edition of the World Cup in 2026. Fifa President Gianni Infantino has arrived Accra on a day working visit. The 46-year-old touched down the Kotoka International Airport after 9am Monday. Infantino was welcomed by the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi and some of his Executive Committee members.
