Former Ghanaian international Rev.Osei Kofi has expressed his disappointment in Ghana’s glamolous clubs Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the low standards of the Ghana .
He explains the two clubs have become powerless to the extent that they do not have hand in decision making by organizers of the domestic league.
Osei Kofi adds does that unlike some clubs elsewhere who play key roles in decision marking to ensure that the right thing is done by organizers of the domestic league, the Ghanaians giants are not recognized at all.
The 2016 league season went without a headline sponsor which many pundits touted the Football Association and the Premier League Board for being behind the unattractiveness of the league to the cooperate world for sponsorship but the one time Kotoko darling boy says he will level the blame on both Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
“ I blame Kotoko and Hearts for the state of our league, when you go to South Africa it’s Orlando Pirates and Kaiser Chiefs who dominate and have their say but over here in Ghana officials of clubs take dollars and make mockery of Kotoko to the point where we were battling for relegation”.
The outspoken Legend cited an intance where Kotoko could contribute as much as nine players to the Senior National team but can’t say same story today about the porcupine warriors.
“1982 when we won the Afcon in Libya , I was then the coach of Kotoko and offered nine players to the Black Stars before we qualified for the tournament but today how many Kotoko players are in the stars?” he mentioned to Kumasi based Angel Fm.
Hearts and Kotoko finished fourth and fifth respectively in the just ended Ghana Premier League.
