FIFA has officially announced the suspension of the Sudanese Football Association until further notice due to governmental interference.
The decision came after a conflict between Ser El-Khatm and Moatasem Gafaar on the presidency of the Sudanese Football Association.
The Sudanese ministry of justice issued an order that transfers the presidency from Gafaar, who is the FIFA recognized elected president, to El-Khetm. As a result, FIFA issued a statement that suspends all football-related activities and participations in Sudan.
The decision means that all clubs and national teams participating in CAF and UAFA competitions will be eliminated. Sudan currently has two teams playing the CAF Champions League group A along with Etoile du Sahel and Ferroviario, who will automatically qualify to the next round.
Moreover, Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid, who currently top Group C in the CAF Confederations Cup, will be also disqualified from the tournament. The group contains Zesco United, Smouha and Recreativo d0 Libolo who will compete for the two spots to qualify.
