Ghana international Cofie Bekoe has joined newly promoted side Assiouty Sport after Entag El-Harby deal fell through.
The Ghanaian agreed personal terms with Entag El-Harby and nearly joined them before he changed his mind and agreed to join Assiouty Sport on a two-year deal.
Assiouty Sport will become the second Egyptian club Bekoe has joined after he had a successful spell at Petrojet, where he scored eight goals in 36 matches. He led the Petroleum club to the third place in 2010 [their best-ever league finish].
The Journeyman brings a wealth of experience to Petrojet, having played for Ghana’s Nania FC, Tema Youth, Bechem United and Accra Great Olympics, Lebnon’s AC Tripoli, Kuala Lumpur FA of Malaysia, Al-Ittihad Tripoli, and Belgian side Lierse SK.
The newly promoted team will be looking to avoid relegation in their second ever season in the premier league after they were relegated in 2015, winning only two games from 38.
The 29-year-old becomes the club’s 18th arrival of the summer following deals for Egypt internationals Ouka and Hamada Tolba , Said Mourad, Omar Bassam, Abdallah Shahat, Mohamed Khalifa, Ibrahim Hassan and more.
Assiouty Sport’s opening game of the season will be against Misr El-Maqassa next September.
