Professionals Golfers in the country will be busy from November 29 to December 2,2017 at the Damang Golf Course when the fourth edition Professional Golfers Association of Ghana (PGA Ghana) Championship tees off.
Ahead of the event headline sponsors of the Professional Golfers Association of Ghana Championship, Gold Fields Ghana Limited on Tuesday announced a 40 percent increase in the total prize money to GH140,000 for this year’s championship .
This was made known by the Executive Vice President & Head of West Africa Region Gold Fields, Alfred Baku, at a press briefing in Accra.
He said the increase in the total prize money is to help uplift the image of competition on the African continent and the World at large.
He also announced that this years winner will take home a cash prize of 25,000 with a glittering trophy and a blue jacket .
Meanwhile according to the President of the PGA Ghana, Anthony Kwame Mintah, the tournament is expected to bring together a pool of golfers from Ghana, Cote D’lvoire, Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone and South Africa.
The 24 golfers who make it to the next stage will be given a share of the cash prize.
The Professionals Golfers Association of Ghana was founded in 1970 and has since played a huge role in promoting golf in the country by ensuring they build a successful career for professional golfers in Ghana.
