GPL week 27 Wrap: Wa All Stars stop Hearts, Derrick Saseraku powers Aduana Stars to victory

Hearts of Oak could not replicate the FA Cup feat over Wa All Stars as the latter came from a goal down to beat the former 2-1 at the Malik Jabir Park in week 27 of the Ghana Premier League midweek fixture on Wednesday.

The Phobians have been in jubilant mood after their qualification over All Stars but two defensive blunders by Insuah Musah means the defending premier league champions have amended for their Sunday defeat.

Wa All Stars home strength was evident in the first half, pressing the Phobians but the visitors were equal to the task defensively with first half failing to produce a goal.

The second return with great intensity with both sides showcasing purpose and strength. Hearts broke the deadlock in the 57th minute. Samudeen Ibrahim managed to sneak through All Stars defense to pounce on Patrick Razak header.

The home side double their effort after Hearts’ lead to score twice. Hearts Insuah Musah misjudgment in the 65th minutes gave Kwaku Asundzie opportunity to slot home the equalizer. Insuah Musah was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box. David Abagna stood up to make it two for the host.

Aduana Stars gave meaning to their title chase after beating second placed WAFA 1-0 at the Agyemang Badu Park.

The tempo of the encounter was not intensive from the start with both side treading cautiously but Aduana showed a little a bit of their home fluidity but it ended goalless after the first half.

The intensity of the increased after the second with Aduana doing most of the pressing and WAFA keeping it tight at the defense. The visitors’ strength upfront went unnoticed as they gave the home side scurry moments but it was Aduana who laugh last.

Derrick Sasraku powerful header in the 63rd sink the visitors as Aduana relish a second league triumphant.
