Egypt defender Ahmed Fathi has stated that he is happy to play in any position for coach Hector Cuper after featuring in a 1-0 win over Tunisia on Sunday.
The Pharaohs defeated the Carthage Eagles 1-0 thanks to a late strike from Marwan Mohsen in what was their final warm-up game ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Fathi played just over an hour of the match before making way for Ahmed Elmohamady.
“Cuper exploited the game very well to test and watch many players and today Karim Hafez started the game and played very well,” said Fathi.
“The game passed without any injuries, while Marwan Mohsen’s goal gave us the win against a good side. We have definitely learned a lot from this game.”
On his position, the Al Ahly defender stated, “I have been playing the last couple of games as a midfielder with Al Ahly, and today played as a right back; the decision is in the coach’s hands and I don’t interfere in his decisions.”
Egypt will open their Group D campaign in the 2017 AFCON with a match against Mali in Port-Gentil on January 17.
