Newly appointed Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei has pledged to restore Kotoko’s iconic status in Ghana and Africa football. The businessman told the playing body and the technical team on Monday evening that, he intends developing the team to the level where the players can’t be overlooked in national team call-ups.
To achieve this, Dr. Kwame Kyei asked the playing body and the technical team to be highly professional and watch him as he positively turns the fortunes of the club around. “I want to develop this club to [a high] level” he said at a meeting held at the Sports Hotel after Kotoko’s 3-0 win over Bechem United in the G-6 tournament.
“I’ve a lot in store for you. You will all marvel at what is to come. I don’t want to reveal all of them but I promise, you will feel proud being here if everything goes as planned” the new leader said. “I will plead with you to do your best” he stressed. “Don’t allow anyone to influence you negatively”.
Dr. Kwame Kyei commended the team for convincingly winning the first match of his reign. He fulfilled his pre-match financial pledge by presenting to the team, an undisclosed yet hefty an amount of money.
“I’m very happy with what I saw. I wondered if this was the team that people said was bad” he said. Captain Amos Frimpong thanked Dr. Kyei on behalf of his colleagues. He attributed the win to the encouragement given to them by the new chairman. He was optimistic that, the team will continue to improve with hard work.
