Ashanti Gold forward Hans Kwofie says winning the 2016/2017 top scorer award isn’t his priority despite becoming first person to score hat-trick in the Ghana Premier League this season.
The former Medeama SC experience midfielder led Ashanti Gold Sporting Club to a convincing 3-1 home victory over Premier league returnees Accra Great Olympics in match day 2 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League at the Obuasi Len Clay sports stadium on Saturday.
An outstanding performance from Kwofie made it very difficult for Great Olympics defender Daniel Quaye to mark him after dribbling the ball pass him on several occasions in the crunch game for the miners who had lost their opening game by a goal to nil in Dormaa.
One would have thought that having banged in three goals in a single game, Kwofie obviously would set eye on finishing the season as top scorer but calm and confidence tormentor thinks otherwise.
Speaking after the game, he indicated his target is to at least a trophy with the Obuasi based club being it either the FA Cup or the Premier League.
‘’ Honestly it’s a great feeling that I am the first person to score hat-trick this season but that doesn’t mean I am eyeing the Golden Boot Award , that isn’t my target’’ Said the Ashgold hero.
He added ‘’ I joined Ashgold because I want to win trophy with them but as to whether that is going to be the league or the FA Cup only God knows but that remains my prime target and I will work tirelessly to ensure I achieve that with Ashgold’’
Hans Kwofie who last season had his stint at Bechem United was adjudged man on the match in Ashgold’s triumph over Great Olympics.
