MATCH REPORT: Liberty 1-0 AshGold – Miners suffer second successive defeat

Ernest Papa Arko’s strike was enough for Liberty Professionals to clinch all three points in their Ghana Premier League week 24 clash with Ashanti Gold SC on Sunday afternoon.
The Scientific Soccer lads beat the Miners to hand them their second consecutive defeat at the Carl Reindolf Park after losing 2-1 to Elmina Sharks 2-1 last Sunday.
Ashgold forward Shafiu Mumuni nearly shot the visitors in front in the first half but his powerful shot went wide.
Michael Osei’s side despite their incessant threat on Ashgold defense failed to find the back of the neat.
Back from recess, the host piled more pressure on Ashgold and finally their efforts paid off when experience Papa Arko found target in the 72nd minute to separate the two teams.
CK Akonnor’s side will now shift attention to their outstanding fixture against WAFA on Sunday July 30 at the Obuasi Len Clay sports stadium.
