The Sports Ministry has written to the IAAF, requesting further explanation on some details within the Ghana Athletics Association’s report over the usage of the $84,900 budget for the London 2017 World Athletics Championship.
The Ghana Athletics Association earlier informed the Sports Ministry that the amount would be used to cater for travel, accommodation, feeding and perdiem of the nation’s 9 athletes.
But an email from IAAF Communications Team intercepted by Starr FM Sports indicates that the London 2017 Local Organizing Committee paid for travel and accommodation of all qualified athletes.
This response raises doubts about the authenticity of the GAA’s claim, hence the Sports Ministry’s request for further explanation.
“We have studied and continue to study the report but there are still some areas that need further clarification and we have requested further information both from the national sports Authority, the Ghana Athletics Association and the IAAF ” Enam Hadzide he told Starr Sports.
“We are awaiting their various responses so that we can conclusively deal with this matter
