Asante Kotoko head coach Steven Pollack has likened his team’s central defence pair of Awudu Nafiu and Wahab Adams to that of Rio Ferdinand Nemanja Vidic during the duo playing days at Manchester United.
According to him it’s not always necessary to have two hard tacklers as defenders hence the purchase of Wahab Adams to partner Nafiu Awudu after the departure of Ahmed Adams and Awal Mohammed.
“Sometimes you need to have a very hard tackler and a cool collected to support and that is what we have in Nafiu and Adams’’- He told Kumasi based Nhyira FM.
”It reminds me of the partnership between Ferdinand and Vidic at Man United. You have one who is like I don’t care and will go in for everything and other being calm and collected”.
”For me that is a good combination. We have to continue to build that relationship between them”.
The English indicated he is still working on their partnership adding newbie Emmanuel Owusu is making competition very tough for them despite being regular starters his pre-season matches.
He also added that even though his outfit have equally two good players in the shape of Emmanuel Owusu and Wahab Adams replace Ahmed Adams and Awal Mohammed.
Coach Steve Pollack and his charges were handed a painful 1-0 defeat by Aduana Stars to lift the 2018 Super Cup at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Sunday.
