English Championship side Birmingham City will complete the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Afriyie Acquah this week.
According to birminghammail,Harry Redknapp has confirmed a deal is close for the midfielder and the club hope to confirm the signing before Saturday’s Championship clash with Reading.
Redknapp was scheduled to fly out to Italy to watch Acquah’s Torino at Bologna last night but the Blues chief cancelled his visit at the last minute after being told the Ghana international wouldn’t feature.
However, Director of Football Jeff Vetere still travelled and Acquah played the full 90 minutes of Torino’s 1-1 draw in their Serie A opener.
The deal to bring Acquah to St Andrew’s will exceed the club’s previous record transfer of £6million for Nikola Zigic in 2010.
Redknapp is also hoping to tie up a deal for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher following the loan acquisitions of Arsenal duo Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall this morning.
