The Ghana Premier League Champions will not compete in the 2016 WAFU tournament slated for Senegal sportsworldghana.com can report.
The Wa based club failed to leave Ghana for the competition in Senegal on December 8 as earlier reported by our portal after the host country failed to provide them accommodation.
Confirming the club’s inability to partake in the invitational tournament to Spice FM, Chief Executive Office [CEO] Oduro Nyarko said” Things have changed but the truth is that the host country [Senegal] have raised some problems that they couldn’t secure accommodation for the participating teams so they called our President Mr. Nyantakyi to inform him about it so it looks like they will propose a different date”
He added” If we are invited later and the date doesn’t crash with our Premier League calendar maybe we will honor the tournament but if it goes the other way round the maybe Kwesi Nyantakyi wouldn’t allow us to participate in the tournament”.
Wa Stars players were granted permission to travel to their various communities to cast their votes in the December 7 general elections and will report to camp on Sunday 11 December to continue preparations for the upcoming season.
