Ghana Premier League giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC are keen to replace USM Algier bound, Kwame Opoku with Bofoakwa Tano FC starman Welbeck Takyi, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
The Porcupine Warriors have identified the young but prolific attacker as the perfect candidate to fit into the vacuum created by Opoku’s departure from the club.
Takyi, 19 has been banging in the goals for the Real Hunters in the Ghana Division One League this season in Zone One and was rewarded with a call-up into the Black Stars team by CK Akonnor.
The lanky and skillful attacker has scored nine goals with three assists to his name in the country’s second tier league in eleven games for the Green and Whites.
After 21-year-old Kwame Opoku signed for the Algerians, the Porcupines have now turn their attention to securing a deal with Bofoakwa for the youngster before the Ghana Transfer Window shut.
Takyi was part of coach CK Akonnor’s 32-man squad which has been reduced to 24 players ahead of AFCON qualifiers games against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
