Asante Kotoko take on Karela United on Wednesday during Week 30 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors are joint-leaders of the league alongside Hearts of Oak on 53 points each after 29 games but the Phobians are put higher due to their better goal difference.
But one area of attention ahead of the game in Obuasi today is the fact that Karela’s Diawisie Taylor has scored 16 goals and is the leader of goals of the overall 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
Striker Osman Ibrahim has a goal all season long for the Porcupine Warriors, Andy Kumi Francis has scored 3 goals, Naby Keita is on 2 goals whereas Solomon Sarfo Taylor who joined during the second transfer window is yet to score a league goal for Kotoko.
Fabio Gama, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Ismail Ganiyu are the leading goal-scorers of Kotoko this season on 4 goals each.
Karela has scored 37 goals in 29 matches against the 33 goals scored by Kotoko in same number of gams and so clearly in the area of attack the Anyinase-based side are ahead.
However when it comes to defence that is where Kotoko have an edge. Their 16 goals conceded in 29 matches makes them the team with the best defence of the league as Karela United have let in 28 goals so far.
