Asante Kotoko will officially start pre-season training on Tuesday, 25October. The porcupine warriors would return to AdakoJachie on the coming Tuesday to start preparing for the Ghana League Clubs Association (Ghalca)’s G6 competition and 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League which starts on 18th December, 2016.
According to Solomon Ofosuware, a management member of Asante Kotoko, “the management and the technical team have decided that God willingMonday, there would be a special opening programme for the technical team and the players and on Tuesday, training will start”.
“So officially, Kotoko will start training on Tuesday at AdakoJachie. Every Kotoko player who went on loan will start training with the team on Tuesday”- Ofosuware.
Speaking to Abusua Sports Arena Saturday, Chairman Solo said the information has already been communicated to the players.
He said “Before, 2015/2016 season ended the team manager and the coaches communicated and decided on the time they will resume to training and training kits that would be used. They have their own rules that guides training session. But officially, the team will start training on Tuesday, 25 October”.
The Deputy Spokesperson of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Ofosuware added that there wouldn’t be any regressing on their training pitch at Adako Jachie.
‘[There will be no regressing at Adako Jachie. But after the league the pitch was not in good shape so the part was bad needed to be improved. We have done it already. It’s not now that we coming to do it. Experts in grassing advised us to allow the pitch to grow to a certain level and cut it when the season is about to start. As I’m speaking with you, our first pitch is cut. The second pitch would be cut by Tuesday. We have two training pitches so by Tuesday all the two would be ready so any of them the technical team would like to start work there they can use it]’.
On transfers, the management member also said “this season what we have decided is that we would maintain our team”.
He continued “We will make only one or two or three inclusions, that is all. The areas the technical team has recommended is holding midfield, offensive midfield and striking. This season there is no problem with defensive and wingers but the holding, offensive and striking is where their concentration is. I don’t think you are Kotoko will sign any defender and winger this season but as for holding midfielders, offensive midfielders and strikers, we would sign at least one player for each position”.
