The senior team Black Stars got their 2019 AFCON qualifiers in a rousing start after seeing off Ethiopia in a convincing 5-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars were denied their first major silverware in 35 years after they were defeated by Cameroun in the last February’s AFCON finals but Kwasi Appiah’s made his intention clear towards the next edition by whitewashing the East Africans.

Team captain started the demolition exercise after his 16th minute’s header took a deflation off an Ethiopian defender to fetch Ghana’s opener. John Boye directed Ebenezer Ofori’s header to cushion Ghana’s lead in the 24th minutes.

Stuggart’s Ebenezer Ofori after setting John Boye fired a sublime strike to fetch the Stars’ third in the closing stages of the first half.

The visiting posed no threat to the Ghanaians as Rafael Dwamena scored twice after recess to give Kwesi Appiah hope in his second stints with Black Stars.

The win sends Ghana to the top of the group with superior goal over Sierra Leon who defeat Kenya 2-1 in other group encounter.
