Former Ghana National U-20 coach Sellas Tetteh has urged Jimmy Cobblah to ‘concentrate and turn things around’ at the 2019 African Youth Championship despite his team’s poor form with few days to the start of the tournament in Niger.
The Ghanaian side have tasted three successive defeats in their preparatory games ahead of the Africa Youth Championship which kicks start on February 2, 2019.
Football enthusiasts in Ghana have bashed Jimmy Cobblah for his ‘poor tactics’ and inability to assemble a ‘winsome’ team for the tournament having conceded six goals in his last three warm-up games.
But Tetteh who guided the 2009 team to win Ghana its first ever world Cup in Egypt has counselled the former Wa All Stars gaffer not to be discourages but rather focus and rectify his mistakes before the tournament kick-off.
Speaking in an interviews with Atinka FM, Tetteh said ”Ghanaians should not be discouraged by the results of the Black Satellites friendlies.” Tetteh
He added. ”The coach should concentrate and turn things around at the African Youth Championship.”
The team engages Nigerien side Sahel FC in their last preparatory match at the Stade Municipal- Niamey and ‘frustrated’ Jimmy Cobblah would at least be hoping to wrap up his side’s preparations with a win on Saturday before the start of the championship.
The two-time African Champions have been drawn in Group B with Mali, Senegal and Burkina Faso.
