The Black Stars defeated Premier league side Legon Cities by 3-1 in a warm up game ahead of their AFCON qualifier against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe later this month.
Coach CK Akonnor handed starting roles to Goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi, Philemon Baffour, Ibrahim Imoro, Jamaldeen Harun, Ismail Ganiyu, Mubarak Wakaso, Rashid Nortey, Salifu Moro, Gladson Awako, Yaw Annor and Kwame Poku.
Legon Cities on the other hand, had Goalkeeper Winfred Honu in the posts ahead of the experienced Fatau Dauda, with Michael Ampadu, Vincent Adu Gyamfi, Nicholas Mensah, and Justice Anane in defence. Prosper Donkor, Baba Mahama, Francis Addo, and Jonah Attuquaye formed a 4 man midfield with Hans Kwofie and Richard Antwi playing upfront.
Kwame Opoku, Mubarak Wakaso and Bechem United captain Salifu Moro scored one each for the Black Stars with Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer Asamoah netting the only consolation goal for the Royal from the spot.
Ghana will travel to South Africa to face the Bafana Bafana on 25th March, 2021 before they return home to host Sao Tome at the Cape Coast Stadium four days later.
