At Yamoussoukro Stadium, Cameroon battled to a 1-1 draw against Guinea in the inaugural Group C match of AFCON 2023. The scoring commenced in the 10th minute, as Mohamed Bayo capitalized on defensive lapses from Cameroon, propelling Guinea to a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Guinea faced adversity when, at 45+3’, 27-year-old Francois Kamano received a red card for a severe tackle, leaving his team a player short. In the second half, exploiting the numerical advantage, Cameroon equalized at 1-1 in the 51st minute with an impressive header by Frank Magri.

Magri’s goal breathed new life into his team, salvaging them from defeat in the opening round of AFCON 2023.

Looking ahead, Guinea gears up to confront Gambia on Friday, January 19, while Cameroon braces for a clash against defending champions Senegal in the second round of AFCON 2023, also on the same date.
