Ghana international Inaki Williams is pleased to be back in action for Athletic Bilbao after a two-month injury break.
Williams returned as a substitute in Bilbao’s 2-0 away defeat to Celta Vigo on Sunday, playing 45 minutes. The forward had been sidelined since October following an injury sustained in a Champions League match against Qarabag FK, where Bilbao secured a 3-1 home win.
“I felt good, getting into the game gradually. Training is important, but competing is what really matters. I’m happy to be back and eager to contribute as soon as possible,†Williams said.
The La Liga clash remained goalless at halftime, but Celta Vigo dominated after the break, with Williot Swedberg opening the scoring in the 48th minute, followed by Jones El-Abdellaoui’s strike to seal the victory.
The 31-year-old has had a modest season so far, making 13 appearances in all competitions and scoring once for the San Mamés side.
