Former Black Stars midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed the long-standing tension between him and his brother, Jerome Boateng, attributing it to jealousy and their very different career paths.
Kevin-Prince explained that the distance between them began in childhood, fueled by contrasting personalities and competitiveness. As Jerome’s career soared, winning major titles with Bayern Munich and Germany—including the 2014 FIFA World Cup—Kevin-Prince faced a more turbulent journey in club football.
Reflecting on their differences, Kevin-Prince admitted that he struggled to accept his brother’s success.
“We never had a good relationship because we were very opposite. He was very competitive, and then I saw him become a superstar. I felt he didn’t deserve it,†Kevin-Prince said in an interview with Andreas Poke.
He added, “I made mistakes that he avoided, so I felt bitter about his achievements. I’ve asked him for forgiveness for feeling jealous or questioning his success, but we still don’t have a real connection.â€
Despite reaching out to reconcile, Kevin-Prince acknowledged that their relationship remains distant, with no meaningful bond restored.
