Dubai City and Samba O’Neil are at the centre of growing transfer interest after reports emerged that the UAE-based club has submitted a $100,000 offer to Asante Kotoko for the services of their captain.
The Congolese defender, who is entering the final year of his contract with the Porcupine Warriors, has become a key target following a string of commanding performances since joining the club. His consistency at the heart of Kotoko’s defence has attracted attention beyond Ghana’s borders.
Samba O’Neil arrived at Kotoko in 2024 from Rahimo FC and quickly cemented his place as a first-team regular. His leadership qualities and solid defensive display have made him one of the most dependable players in the squad.
Dubai City, who compete in the UAE First Division, are reportedly keen on strengthening their backline and have backed their interest with a financial proposal in the region of $100,000. The club is also said to have included an attractive personal package, offering the defender a monthly salary of about $10,000.
Despite the offer on the table, Asante Kotoko are yet to take a final decision on the future of the highly-rated centre-back, whose importance to the team cannot be overstated.
So far this season, the 25-year-old has featured in 13 of Kotoko’s 14 Ghana Premier League matches, scoring once. He also made four appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup, finding the net as Kotoko exited the competition at the second preliminary round.
Since his arrival in Kumasi, Samba O’Neil has played 47 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist, underlining his value as both a defensive leader and a threat in attack.
