The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has announced that the Black Stars will hold their pre-match camp in Morocco before facing the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana had initially planned to begin preparations in Accra, but the decision has been revised due to time constraints. The match will take place on Wednesday, October 8, at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with Woezor TV’s Arena, Asante Twum explained that the players will head straight to Morocco after their weekend club duties. They are expected to report to camp on Sunday, October 5, with the final group of players joining on Monday.
He noted that assembling in Accra before flying to Morocco would have caused fatigue and disrupted recovery time, especially for players traveling long distances. “It will be more efficient for the team to gather directly in Morocco and prepare there,” he stressed.
Asante Twum also confirmed that head coach Otto Addo has already submitted and defended his squad list, which is set to be released later this week.
After the tie against the Central African Republic, Ghana will return home to complete their qualifying campaign against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.
The Black Stars currently top Group I with 19 points and need a victory to secure qualification for their fifth FIFA World Cup.
