The country is in the middle of war but it seems it is not affecting them at all.

The Falcons of Jediane travelled to Juba on Tuesday afternoon in matchday four of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers matchday four.

James Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan were in full confidence heading into the game after beating Mauritania 2-0 in Nouakchott on matchday 3.

Speaking to Sportsworldworldghana.com after the win in Nouakchott, Sudan’s head coach Kwesi Appiah made it clear that they were never going to underrate the lowly South Sudan.

Sudan thrashed South Sudan away from home in an emphatic manner with Al Hilal Omdurman’s trio scoring the goals.

Walieldin Khidir scored the first goal in the injury time of the first half to put Sudan in a commanding lead.

In the second half, Mohamed Yasir Mozamil doubled Sudan’s lead in the 51st minute.

Mohamed Abdel Rahman added Sudan’s third to put a huge smile on Kwasi Appiah’s face.

Sudan is in a huge battle as they are fighting against the experienced Senegal and DR Congo for the sole slot in Group B.

The Falcons of Jediane return to the World Cup qualifiers with a huge fixture in MD5 against Senegal in March 2025 and the fixture can make or break Sudan.
