Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has emphasized the importance of securing victories with Ghana before focusing on his individual plans for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
In an interview following a training session at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, Semenyo expressed his dedication to the team’s success ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for June.
Ghana is set to face Mali in Bamako on June 6 and Central African Republic on June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. The team currently sits fourth in Group I with three points, having defeated Madagascar but suffered a 1-0 loss to Comoros.
Despite AFC Bournemouth’s challenging start under Andoni Iraola, the team managed to finish 12th in the season, with Semenyo contributing eight goals and two assists in 33 league games. Reflecting on his performance, Semenyo acknowledged the achievements of the team and expressed his focus on the upcoming matches before planning for the next season.
“I think it’s a good season, I got the goals I wanted and I feel like as a team, we’ve done really well so I think it’s just planning for the next season. Obviously I’m focused on the games here, make sure we win and then get ready for new season.”
As one of the 26 players selected by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for the World Cup qualifiers, Semenyo is determined to contribute to Ghana’s success on the field.
