Nine players participated in the Black Stars’ first training session on Monday as preparations began for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday, March 21.
The team opened camp at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the first session open to the public. Despite head coach Otto Addo naming a 23-man squad for the qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, only nine players reported for the initial training.
West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus, who arrived in Ghana on Sunday night, was absent from the session.
The players present included goalkeepers Benjamin Asare (Hearts of Oak), Lawrence Ati-Zigi (St. Gallen), and Joseph Wollacott (Crawley Town). Defenders Kamaradini Mamoud (Medeama SC), Mohammed Salisu (AS Monaco), Gideon Mensah (Auxerre), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC) also took part.
Forwards Kamaldeen Sulemana (Southampton) and Antoine Semenyo (AFC Bournemouth) completed the group.
Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, visited the team and observed the session, while head coach Otto Addo led the training alongside Technical Advisor Winfried Schäfer.
The Black Stars will intensify preparations before facing Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by an away fixture against Madagascar on March 24.
