Following their impressive 2-1 victory over Mali in Bamako, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo anticipates a challenging showdown against Central African Republic (CAR) in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Addo voiced his concerns during a post-match press conference, citing the heightened expectations surrounding Ghana’s performance.
Ernest Nuamah and substitute Jordan Ayew were instrumental in securing the goals for the Black Stars, marking Ghana’s first win in 2024. With the next match against CAR scheduled for Monday, June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Addo acknowledges that the unexpected triumph in Bamako has raised the stakes for his team.
“The game against Central African Republic will now be even more difficult because we will now be expected to win,” Addo stated, highlighting the pressure facing the Black Stars as they aim for another victory.
Ghana’s triumph over Mali propels them into second place in Group I, while CAR’s 1-0 victory over Chad positions them fourth in the group.
Currently, Ghana boasts six points with a goal difference of +1, while CAR trails closely behind with four points, setting the stage for a compelling encounter between the two teams.
