In-form striker, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu has led his side, Estoril Praia SAD to the top-flight of Portuguese football next season.
The Ghanaian forward is yet to be capped and is a potential Black Stars striker with his scintillating form and displays in the Portuguese Secunda Liga this campaign for the newly promoted team.
Yakubu joined Estoril Praia on loan from Vitória Guimarães in August 2020 and has been a pivot and a consistent performer leading the club back from the second tier league to the Liga NOS for the next season.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian forward started his football career with a Division Two League team, Charity Stars FC before he joined FC Vizela in 2016.
Two years later, Yakubu joined Vitória Guimarães B side on loan in 2018 before making the deal permanent on July 1st in 2019 as he cost €200k.
One year later, the budding striker was shipped out to Estoril for the 2020-21 season and the move to the club has been a great success for the player and his club.
This season, Yakubu has enjoyed a fruitful season and has been constantly playing for the Yellow and Blues and has become their most important player bagging in crucial goals and helping them to qualify for top-flight football.
Not only has Yakubu scored important goals but the Ghanaian is the club’s top scorer this campaign in the league with 12 league goals and two assists in 26 matches which has propelled Estoril back into the Liga NOS.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian forward is also a second joint top in the Portuguese Secunda Liga and has scored 15 goals and provided five assists in all competitions with three goals and three assists coming in the Cup competition.
Yakubu could be capped by Ghana in the near future in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and could be playing in the 2021 AFCON which will be hosted in Cameroon next year January.
The budding attacker has also won Man-Of-The-Match award five times in the league and player of the twice this campaign.
The Ghanaian international’s loan deal with Estoril Praia will end in the summer of 2023.
