Teams who finish the Ghana Division One League level on points would use the head-to-head to determine the winner and that was how Real Tamale United edged out Bofoakwa Tano to qualify for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.
Both teams finished the season with 65 points apiece after 30 matches as Bofoakwa were held to a 0-0 draw at Berekum Arsenal on Sunday whereas RTU won 2-0 over Unity FC.
RTU won their home game against the Sunyani-based side by 1-0 in Tamale and drew 1-1 at the Coronation Park against the Hunters.
With a better head to head record, the Northern giants top Zone One and thus qualifies to the elite competition which they last played in the 2012/13 season.
