Egypt : Pitso Mosimane receives salvos from former Ahly players

Former Al Ahly goalkeeper Amir Abdelhamid has criticised Pitso Mosimane amid recent pressure from local media.

The club has announced the exit of the South African coach on Monday.

Al Ahly recently suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League final.

The game was played under several controversial decisions after CAF decided to hold the final in Casablanca just weeks before the showdown.

The Red Devils missed out on the opportunity to claim three consecutive Champions League titles under head coach Pitso Mosimane.

Mosimane has been under scrutiny recently with former Al Ahly players urging the club board to replace the South African coach.

Former club shotstopper Amir Abdelhamid has now become the latest to question Mosimane’s attitude towards the media and suggested he should cope with the pressure.

“Pitso Mosimane’s statements have been strange lately,” Abdelhamid told Al-Mehwar TV channel. “The things he said about how working at Al Ahly is difficult are completely unacceptable.

“If you are a head coach at Al Ahly, you must deal with the media in an ideal way, and say things that are rational.

“Al Ahly is the biggest club in Africa and it is not unusual for them to be demanding in terms of sporting success,” he added.
