Vipers SC forward Cesar Manzoki has disclosed he wanted to represent Uganda at the international level but was denied the opportunity by a few figures, whom he chose not to reveal.
Speaking in an interview with Football256, the Congolese-born, who now represents the Central African Republic revealed that he discussed with the responsible people his availability, but was not given feedback.
“I tried to talk to some people if I can play for Uganda Cranes but I did not get feedback,” he made the revelation in an interview with this reporter.
At a time when the Cranes’ biggest struggles are hinged around scoring goals, the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League top-scorer (18 goals) could have been a great addition.
“Time was running fast and I had to make a decision. I chose CAR as I have some family members there, the way I have some here in Uganda.”
“But, I can not lie to you, I would have wanted to play for Uganda Cranes because the project is exciting,” added the 2020/21 Uganda Cup top scorer.
Manzoki is yet to score for the Central African Republic in the three games he has featured but is already a key figure in the setup.
“They are my other home, the Minister of Sports and the Federation President have been there for me from day one and I already enjoy playing there,” the lanky forward said.
Manzoki is out of contract at Vipers but, despite interests from all over the continent, reports have it he’s closer than ever to renewal.
