Dutch-born Nigerian winger Bobby Adekanye has officially joined Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles on a two-year deal, leaving SS Lazio after three years of service.

The 23-year-old Dutch winger has decided to return to the Netherlands on a permanent transfer after an interesting three years in Rome, where he made a handful of Serie A appearances before going out on loan spells with Cadiz, ADO Den Haag and Crotone.

As announced by in a statement, Bobby Adekanye has signed a two-year deal with Go Ahead Eagles, giving him a chance to show his qualities in the Eredivisie once again. The figures behind the deal are unknown but it’s a good deal regardless for Lazio, who were never going to integrate the 23-year-old into the first team.

Adekanye made 15 appearances in total for Lazio, playing 364 minutes of action. In that time he scored a goal and provided an assist, giving him a taste of Serie A before he bounced around on various loan spells.

The 23-year-old winger posted a farewell message on his social media, thanking the fans for their support and noting that the club will always be in his heart.

Read below th player’s goodbye message to Lazio:

Today I say goodbye to Lazio and I do it feeling extremely proud because I have defended the shirt of one of the most important teams in Italian football.

Rome is a wonderful city and Lazio is a gigantic club in every way, but you the fans have been my greatest gift. You showed me infinite love since day one and I can assure you that it’s the same love I’ve had and I’ll have for you today, tomorrow and always. That’s not going to change.

I want to thank everybody, from the first teammate who opened the doors of the dressing room to the last worker who has made sure that I had everything to be able to develop my passion. Three years full of learning, personally and professionally.

Good luck and success, family. See you soon. Forza Lazio!
