Ogum’s resignation decision is irreversible, Dasoberi reveals

On Wednesday Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum resigned from his role after winning the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title in his first season with the Porcupine Warriors and his decision is irreversible according to the Administration and Operations Manager of Kotoko.

Ogum verbally resigned on Wednesday and this follows a transfer disagreement between the head coach board of the club.

“The coach has not formally written to the club about his resignation, but even when some members tried to persuade him to change his mind, his response was that his decision was final,” Mr Dasoberi told the Daily Graphic.

According to the Administration and Operations Manager of Kotoko , the former WAFA trainer wanted 17 new players signed ahead of the 2022/23 league season and the CAF Champions League but it appears the justification for that massive transfer activity did not come from Ogum.

“During the meeting with the board to discuss his report to the management, there was a disagreement over his request to sack 10 players and recruit 17 new players, including four centre-backs.

“It was at the point when some members of the board questioned the justification of some of his requests that Coach Prosper Ogum said he had a two-year contract but wanted to move on with his life, so the club must look for a new coach,” Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, the Administration and Operations Manager of Kotoko is quoted by graphic.com.
