Swedish  defender of Ghanaian descent Isak Malcolm Kwaku Hien has received massive appluads for his outstanding performance for Italian club Hella Verona.

The talented defender joined Verona after a successful season at Djurgården.

The 23-year-old has earned widespread plaudits for his incredible performances at the back in the Serie A.

After two appearances in Serie A, the centre-back made his debut from the start in Sunday’s match against Sampdoria. Hellas Verona won 2-1 and afterwards Isak Hien was praised for his effort.

The 23-year-old is rated seventh, the highest of all in the back line, by the site Tutto Hellas Verona.

“A practically impenetrable wall. He doesn’t budge an inch with his physique and reads the game well, ” they write in their review.

The local editorial office of La Gazzetta dello Sport in Verona is also impressed.

“He controls the defense and stands upright. He was moved out to the right in the three-back line when Koray Günter was replaced and then Francesco Caputo (Sampdoria’s striker) saw less and less of the ball.”

Isak Hien was brought up in AIK, but as a striker, and was retrained as a center back during his time in Vasalund.

In 2022, he had to make his Allsvenskan debut for Djurgården, where there were a total of 17 games before the transfer team moved on to Italy.

Up until the age of 21, he operated mainly as a striker, but was convinced to switch to centre-back, and flourished in that new position. He is of Ghanaian descent
