Ghana international, Felix Afena-Gyan, emerged hero on the night as Cremonese kicked out Napoli from the Coppa Italia on Tuesday 17th January, 2023 evening.
The 19-year-old climbed the bench in the 65th minute to grab a late equaliser, taking the game to extra time.The AS Roma striker would go ahead to score the eventual winner during the penalty shootout.
Charles Pickel put Cremonese the ahead in the first half before Luciano Spalletti’s side got two goal later courtesy Juan Jesus and Giovanni Simeone.
However, with three minutes to full time, Fix Afena-Gyan came off the bench to score the equalizer, taking the game to extra time before penalties.
During the penalty shootout, all but Stanislav Lobotka scored their kicks while Cremonese manage to score all their kicks.
The Black Stars attacker took the decisive kick which sealed quarterfinals qualification for his team at the expense of Napoli into the quarterfinals.
Afenya-Gyan, has since joining, Cremenose has scored two goals all in the Coppa Italia.
