Yussif Chibsah, a former midfielder for Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars, has called on Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee, to apologize to Stephen Appiah for his recent comments about the importance of academic qualifications for leadership roles in Ghana football.
In response to Appiah’s comments on football management in Ghana, Sarfo had advised former players to prioritize their academic education if they wish to be eligible for such positions.
“Samuel Eto’o is the FA president for Cameroon. He needed to go to school so he can better himself academically. He joined associations that are affiliated with their FA before making plans to contest. If Stephen Appiah wants to play a key role or wants to lead the GFA, he needs to have better academic knowledge and certificates,” Sarfo told Onua FM.
Chibsah disagrees with Sarfo’s stance and believes that he should retract his statement and apologize to Appiah, as football is not solely dependent on academic achievements.
“Nana Oduro Sarfo must apologize to Stephen Appiah because football is not all about academics, he should relax and stop attacking personalities,” he told Angel Sports Live.
