Boxer Jackson Freezy MacBones, formerly known as Seth Gyimah, has officially changed his nationality from Ghana to the United Kingdom (UK), as confirmed by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).

GBA President Abraham Neequaye revealed that MacBones made the decision to switch nationalities just before his professional debut. Although he initially approached the GBA for a license to venture into boxing in Ghana, he ultimately opted to fight as a UK national.

Neequaye explained, “He came to Ghana to obtain a Ghana Boxing Authority license before he fought in the UK. However, when it came time to obtain a release letter from us, he changed his decision and chose to fight under the British flag. He was supposed to request a release letter from us, but he expressed his desire to fight as a UK national.”

MacBones, who previously worked as a mason in Ghana before relocating to the UK, has undergone a remarkable transformation in his life. His inspiring journey from humble beginnings to success has garnered attention on social media, particularly following his recent victory in his second professional bout.

In April, the 33-year-old boxer showcased his skills as an undercard fighter during the Joe Joyce and Zhilei Zhang fight at the Copper Box Arena in London. Facing veteran boxer Darryl Sharp, MacBones dominated the match with a combination of powerful punches and relentless aggression, ultimately securing a unanimous decision victory.

Videos highlighting MacBones’ impressive performance quickly went viral on social media, earning him praise from many Ghanaians for his aggressive boxing style.

Despite MacBones’ success, the GBA President emphasized that the association cannot compel the boxer to represent Ghana if he chooses otherwise. Neequaye stated, “If a person holds our license but decides to fight under another license instead of ours, we cannot force them to come back. We have many boxers here in Ghana whom we need to develop.”

Freezy MacBones is scheduled to step back into the ring for his next fight on June 16.
