“I would have been happy if Hearts of Oak had been relegated” – Club legend Dan Quaye

Dan Quaye, a legendary figure of Hearts of Oak believes that the only thing that would have compelled the Hearts of Oak administrators to make improvements was if the club had been relegated last season.

According to Quaye, there are fundamental issues that need to be addressed at Hearts, and the dire state of the club will not change unless something drastic occurs.

During the previous season, Hearts of Oak found themselves at the bottom of the league table and narrowly escaped relegation on the final day, eventually finishing in 12th place.

The club’s supporters have continuously expressed their discontent with the situation, hoping for better seasons ahead. However, Quaye firmly believes that significant changes will not occur unless a more significant catastrophe, such as relegation, forces the club to mend its ways.

“I’d have been happy if Hearts had gone on relegation to Division One last season. That would have sent a lesson for our leaders to learn sense “, Quaye told Accra-based Happy FM.

He also expressed his desire for Hearts to hire Coach Annor Walker, who recently joined rivals Great Olympics. Quaye believes that coaches like Walker, who possess qualities akin to the celebrated Jones Attuquayfio, garner the respect of players and have the ability to lead clubs to success.

Dan Quaye joined Hearts of Oak in 1999 from Accra Great Olympics and left a decade later winning all there was to win in his time with the Rainbow club.

Quaye won six Ghana Premier League titles, the CAF Champions League & CAF Confederation Cup in 2000 and 2004 respectively and the Super Cup in 2001, and two Ghana FA CUP with the Phobians.
