Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has clarified the role of Michael Osekre, a close associate of GFA President Kurt Okraku, in the administration.
While Michael Osekre is known to be a close friend of Kurt Okraku and has been seen traveling with the national teams, Harrison Addo clarified in an interview that Osekre does not hold an official position at the GFA.
Instead, Osekre serves as an adviser to Kurt Okraku and offers guidance to the GFA president. He does not have an official role within the organization.
“Michael Osekre does not hold any official position at the Ghana Football Association,” he told Accra-based Asaase Radio.
“Everywhere, we have people who advise the FA and Michael Osekre is just an adviser to Kurt Okraku.”
Regarding Osekre’s travel expenses, Addo mentioned that sometimes Osekre covers the expenses himself, while other times the GFA may provide financial support. However, this is separate from any official position within the association.
“There are some travels he takes charge of the expenses and sometimes the Football Association pays but he is just an adviser to the FA boss (Kurt Okraku).”
It’s worth noting that Michael Osekre is the owner and sponsor of Vision FC, a team in the Division One League.
