Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mark Addo says Chris Hughton has their support despite reports of wanting to sack the Black Stars coach.
This comes ahead of the Black Stars fixture against Central African Republic in the last game of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on September 7, 2023.
Ghana will need at least a single point to secure qualification to the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
And with Ghana determined to qualify for the tournament, Mark Addo believes Chris Hughton has the support of GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports and they will provide the tactician with the necessary support to succeed.
“Chris Hughton has our full support. The GFA and Sports Ministry don’t intend sacking him. We will continue to provide him with the necessary resources to get the work done”, Mr Addo who doubles as the Chairman of the Black Stars management committee told Akoma FM in Kumasi.
Chris Hughton signed a 21-month deal in March earlier this year as the Black Stars head coach, replacing Otto Addo, who resigned after Black Stars’ early exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The former Newcastle United manager has so far recorded two draws and a win in his first three games as Black Stars head coach.
