Experienced defender Jerome Boateng is on the verge of making a sensational comeback to Bayern Munich, marking a return to his former club after a brief stint in France.

Boateng’s departure from the Bundesliga giants was confirmed by sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić in April 2021, as his contract was set to expire in the summer of the same year with no plans for an extension.

Subsequently, on 1 September 2021, Boateng embarked on a new chapter, donning the colors of the French side Lyon, thanks to a smooth free transfer. The defender signed a contract that bound him to Lyon until the end of June 2023.

Now, as the June deadline approaches, Lyon has officially announced Boateng’s departure, opening the door for a potential reunion with his former club.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich’s management is not only interested but actively involved in arranging Boateng’s return, emphasizing the strong desire the club has to secure the services of the seasoned player once again.
