Medeama Sporting Club defender Abdul Fatawu Hamid has been handed his second call-up for the Black Stars ahead of the friendly games against Mexico and the United States of America.
The left-back received his first call-up last month as Ghana faced Liberia and was given a starting role at the Accra Sports Stadium as Ghana won 3-1.
Chris Hughton, the Black Stars’ head coach, has called up 23 players for this month’s international friendlies against Mexico and the United States of America.
Tariq Lamptey of Brighton and Hove Albion returns to the squad after missing the last international break due to injury. The player returned from injury just before the September break and has played for Roberto De Zerbi’s side since.
Hughton also selects Thomas Partey, who missed the previous international break owing to a muscular ailment.
Ghana will take on Mexico as the Bank of America stadium – Charlotte on October 14 before taking on the United States of America on October 17, 2023, in Nashville Tennessee.
Hughton is expected to use the two friendlies as part of the build-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in November and the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
